Island Peak Climbing have lured trekkers all around the world for decades, thanks to the splendid views, adventure, wild and dramatic landscapes and an amazing experiences for  trekkers get to experience all through the trek. Island peak is a gigantic peak that lies in between the peaks of Ama Dablam and Lhotse on the top of Chukung glacier. Lying in between the Chukung glacier, the peak rises tall in between like an island. It can be a great achievement for the trekkers in itself. But the venture is not for the begginers.It can’t be performed by anyone with basic snow climbing skill and high altitude toleration capacity.

The higher the risks, the higher the reward: when you finally make it to Island peak, you would get a truly mesmerizing, heavenly, and soul enriching feeling. It offers you some of the most epic views of four peaks  Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Makalu 8481m, Mt. Cho Oyu 8201m and many other snow-capped mountains. Of course, reaching at the peak rises tall in between like an island can be an amazing experience of a lifetime.

  • Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

    On arrival at Kathmandu; we will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Later we meet and take you to our office, brief you about your upcoming Trek and introduce you to your crew member. Evening, we arrange welcome dinner at one of the finest local restaurant with music and cultural dance. Stay overnight at Hotel.

  • Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 3 - 4 hours trek

    During the 25-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (9,186ft), we enjoy one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating on a hillside surrounded by high mountainous peaks. After landing at lukla we begins our trip and meet our other crew members and begin packing and arranging with them. At one hour’s gradual going down, we will be at a Cheplung village from where we have a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila. From Cheplung, we then gradually walk down until we reach Phakding and spend the night.

  • Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280 ft): 5 - 6 hours

    Walking through a dense forest, the trail leads you along the Dudh Koshi River. While on the way you encounter with beautiful view of the  Mt. Thamserku and Pass through the settlement of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, you reach at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Later the trail climbs up through the forests to reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers.Before reaching in Namche Bazaar, the trail passes through Jorsale Village and while on the trail you will have first sight of The Mt. Everest. Overnight in Namche

  • Acclimatization Day - Namche Bazaar: (3,440m/11,284ft)

    This will be the proper acclimatization day with some hiking around the landmarks of Namche Bazaar - the trading hub of Everest region. In the center of Namche we can visit the mountaineering museum and spend some quality time with the fun-loving Sherpa people. Later, yo can visit to Sagarmatha National Park headquarter and the Tourist Visitor Centre as well. You can hike to the ideal place to overview some of the outstanding mountains such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse etc. Besides, you can walk around the Khumjung valley and climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche before returning back to Namche. Overnight in Namche.   • Namche Bazaar to Phortse Thanga (3,680m/12,073ft): 5-6 hours

    Today we walk to the Khumjung hill and descend to the east of the village down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Koshi from where the route turns north. There are two ways and our guide will choose the best option for us to follow. There is a chorten on the ridge which descends from Mt. Khumbila . We visit Mohang and  descends to the series of steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dush Koshi. We stay overnight in Phortse Tanga, near the river.

  • Phortse Thanga to Machhermo (4,470m/ 14,663ft): 4-5 hours

    From Phortse Thanga it is an uphill climb about 4-5 hours to Machhermo. We walk on a trail alongside a rhododendron forest and pass through the waterfall before reaching Tongba Village and  We continue our uphill trek and pass through Dhole, Labarma and Luza villages before reaching our destination. There is a Chhorten right before the Luza village. Overnight in Machhermo.

  • Machhermo to Gokyo (4,800 m/15,744 ft): 4-5 hours

    After having breakfast We begin climbing a ridge for an excellent view down the valley to Kangtaiga and also up towards Cho Oyu  then The valley  widens as the trail passes through Phangkha. We then descend to the riverbank before climbing onto the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier. while crossing an iron bridge over a stream, the trail levels out as it follows the valley past the first lake. At this time, we get a chance to observe lama footprints on a stone. At the sight of the second lake, Taboche Tsho, we become mesmerized by the twinkling turquoise blue sheet of water sparkling in the sun. A Little ahead of the second lake, we reach the third lake, the two linked by a stream and Gokyo village stands by the third lake and Cho-Oyu Mountain as a backdrop sets. After Having lunch, we explore around the third lake, Dudh Pokhari. Overnight in Gokyo.

  • Gokyo Valley: Acclimatization Day - Optional Hike to 5th Lake: 6-7 hours

    We  spend this day taking a rest in the Gokyo Valley and around this beautiful place.If the weather is good, we could  climb Gokyo Ri, a popular viewpoint to enjoy the stunning views of the mountain vistas. We walk almost 3 km north of Gokyo to reach the fourth lake  called Thonak Tsho. We take pleasure in the lake’s serene beauty and continue to the fifth lake, called Ngozumba Tsho. If we want to, we can climb a hill, the Scoundrel's Viewpoint, which is located at the border of the fifth lake. From here we get magnificient views of Cho-Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu mountains. We walk back to Gokyo and spend the night.

  • Gokyo to Thagnak (4750 m/15,580 ft): 4 - 5 hours

    If we didn’t have  climbed the Gokyo Ri the previous day then we can do that today. Climbing to the top of Gokyo Ri  takes almost 4 hours to reach the top. the scenery of Gokyo village is magnificently amazing. We are surrounded by  mountains like Thamserku, Kangtega, Taboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, and Pumori. We can see the sight of sunrays kissing Everest which towers over all the surrounding peaks is astonishing. We trek through the Ngozumpa Glacier to the mountain on the other side too. Next, traverse along the edge of that mountain and then turn into Thagnak. It will be a short hike today with an afternoon of rest which will prepare us for long and difficult hiking days.

  • Thagnak to Cho La pass (5,367m/17,604 ft) to Dzongla (15, 939 ft): 7 - 8 hours

    Today the trail follows rocky path that crosses a ravine and proceeds along the periphery of a frozen lake.The Prayer flags mark the top of the Cho La pass where we can see outstanding views of Ama Dablam and many other mountains. Attention must be taken during the climb as the trail is steep and slippery. Climbing down to Dzongla, the views of the snow peaks along with the village of Periche form an exotic assortment.Overnight in Dznogla

  • Dzongla to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft): 2 - 3 hours

    Dznogla to lobuche is a very short trek so we have a lot time to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. The trail descend down from Dzongla and walk through a grassy path while enjoying the view of Lobuche mountain. The trail turns through the wide river bed before reaching the Lobuche. We can spend the rest of day taking a rest which will help us prepare for the coming difficult long trek. Overnight in Lobuche.

  • Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,170 m/16,961ft), visit Everest Base Camp (5,360 m/17,594 ft): 6-7 hours

    At Thangma Riju one can experience the breathtaking view snowcapped mountains. Actually The Mount Everest is not seen from here however Mount Nuptse and Mount Pumori can be viewed .Below Mount Pumori a grassy land of Kalapaththar can be seen after climbing up the steep .

  • Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,555m/18,192ft) to Dingbuche (4,400) 7-8 hours

    We start early today so as to get the glimpse of the Everest when the dusk turns to bright morning with light of the day. On the way to kalapathhar peaks Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse are viewed. It is recommended that during the ascent to Kalapatthar which takes hours one pauses and catch breath while snapping the photos at times. We descent back to Lobuche where we stay overnight.

  • Dingboche to Chhukung valley and overnight stay there . (4743m)

    Today we will have trip to Chhukung valley, then we return to Dingboche in the evening. We will visit to Chhukung Ri (5546 meters) too. From there, we can observe a fifth highest mountain Makalu. Overnight at Guest House.

  • Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m/17,060ft): 3-4 hours

    Today we climb south then turn east to the main line of the valley.Later we walk on a winding path below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier. Next, we continue walking on a trail along a stream aside. The route to the Amphu Labtsa situated to the southeast. A zigzag route through the Imja khola and Lhotse glacier moraines leads us to a wide valley bounding the SW side of Island Peak. Overnight at Island Peak Base Camp.

  • Pre-Climb Training on Island Peak Base Camp

    A short briefing along with training on climbing is dissipated at the base camp. Techniques on peak climbing and efficient use of climbing gear including ice axe, climbing boots harness et cetera is given with confirmations. The rest of the day is spent resting in the camp.

  • Island Peak Base Camp to Summit and back to Base Camp (5,600m/18,372ft) 10-12 hours

    Today we start our trekking in early morning. Strong winds blow around the summit so we have to start early. After a short walk, the trail changes into a sharp climb. The sandy path in the beginning soon changes to a rocky path with the slope getting narrower. Soon we climb along plenty of rock culverts along the route. Further on, we walk along the ridgeline that leads to the muzzle of the glacier. With rope to support, we cross this snow and ice slope. From the top of the slope, the summit is just three rope lengths away. After observing an elevated and outstanding view from the summit we take the route back to the base camp.

  • Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3,985m/13,074ft) 5-6 hours

    Today early morning we Descend down to the trail, the pleasant walk is solacing to the lungs. Passing the beautiful villages of Orsho and Shomare, we move towards the Monastery in upper Pangboche . A panaromic view of mountain ranges above and the valley below with Imja khola can be seen from here.

  • Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,286ft): 6 hours

    Walking downwards to Imja River and crossing the forest to Tengboche, we continue our trek along rhododendron and juniper forests. Crossing the Dudh Koshi river, we descend through pine dense forests. Further ahead, we pass a Buddhist Shrine marking the entrance to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft): 6-7 hours

    The last day of the trek continues in a balanced manner on the rocky terrain until reaching the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi river, passing through the rhododendron forest while enjoying enchanting view of snow covered mountains and then we finally reached lukla.

  • Fly to Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

    This is the day when Mountain flight from Lukla to Kathmandu is enjoyed over once again. On reaching Kathmandu it is time to enjoy shopping and walking round the city. The evening is to celebrate for successfully completion of Everest Base Camp trip.

  • Final Departure

    Departure from Kathmandu. A drop from the hotel to the airport  before the scheduled time of flight is arranged in a private tourist vehicle.
